A “dry pool” water feature is designed for the UMC Plaza Courtyard at the Boulder Campus of the University of Colorado. A series of ground spray jets are programmed to shoot in the air in a random sequence.

The water feature is designed to drain into an underground wet well through cracks in the surface pavers to avoid visible standing water. Each jet is controlled by a low voltage, solenoid operated control valve which is controlled by a timer and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). A high rate sand filter and UV treatment system are utilized to provide continuous cleaning of the fountain water. The water feature mechanical pumping system utilizes a three-phase horizontal centrifugal pump with special electrical safety features.
