New Cache La Poudre Irrigating Company
   Lucerne, CO

The Greeley #2 canal is approximately 45 miles in length with a service area of approximately 35,000 acres. A total of $8,000,000 in improvements are currently under way and funded through the Colorado Water Conservation Board’s loan program.

In 2004 and 2005, the company built an equalizer reservoir, a pumping station, and installed actuated gates operating under a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system on the east and lower end of the system. A new storage reservoir and improvements to the Windsor Lake (Kern Reservoir) outlet works are currently in the offing as well as other improvements.

Aqua Engineering has been involved either as a prime consultant or as a subconsultant in concept development, probable cost determination, design, and construction administration for the pump station, actuated gates, and SCADA elements of the project.

In 2003, the New Cache La Poudre Irrigating Co. identified several projects that would help the century-plus year old company to better manage the Greeley #2 canal and the Company’s decrees on the Poudre River. The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) participated in a feasibility study and company shareholders were asked to vote on a phased improvement plan and strategy that ultimately received shareholder approval.
