A fully automated irrigation system irrigates the NCAA sand based competition soccer field, practice field, and turf and shrub plantings at Denver University’s 70-million dollar Ritchie center. The irrigation system includes a computer controlled fertilizer injection system, an irrigation central computer which communicates with the satellite controllers using UHF radio, and dual master valves and flow sensors which allow automated system shut down in the event of pipe break or broken sprinkler.
