State Highway 82 Glenwood Springs,
CO
One of the unique elements of the system designed for this highway
is the use of hauled water and solar powered pumps for the drip
irrigation system. Water that is hauled to the higher areas of a
revegetation site is delivered to the planting site using the solar
powered pumps to pressurize the drip irrigation system.
A second innovation was the use of bridge crossings to carry pipes
transporting water. One of the materials specified by Aqua
Engineering for parts of the bridge crossing system is a durable,
flexible pipe. Also recommended for use on the projects higher
slopes, the pipe can be salvaged and re-used as the project moves
down its fifty-mile stretch.
